The diabetic mother of a severely ill toddler
appealed to the public for help, saying she cannot afford the more than
25,000 baht a month in medical bills required to keep her son alive.
Apichat Saiduangjoo was born 19 months ago with a
cleft palate and lung, heart and respiratory ailments. He requires
full-time use of a respirator and averages up to five visits to Chonburi
Hospital each month, said his mother Pratthana Hoisang. Medical bills
run about 25,000 baht a month, including 9,000 baht for respirator
rental and electricity.
Complicating matters, Pratthana herself suffers from
diabetes, adding to medical expenses.
Apichat’s mother and father, Suchat Duangsaijoo, an
electrician at Pleasant Valley golf course in Bangpra, said they only
earn about 6,000 baht a month and appealed to the public for assistance.
