Parkong Kamdee has been charged with illegal
weapons possession and carrying a loaded gun into a public place.
Boonlua Chatree
Pattaya and Chonburi police arrested the mother of a
drug-dealing former police officer on charges of selling an M-16 machine gun
to a purported hitman.
Parkong Kamdee, 50, was taken into custody near her Soi
Mabyailia home June 23. Police said she is the mother of an unnamed police
officer currently behind bars at Nong Plailai Prison for possession of 600
methamphetamine tablets and 4 g. of ya ice. Investigators accuse her of
being a weapons dealer.
An undercover officer contacted Prakong under the
pretense of being a hitman. After agreeing to a sale price of 25,000 baht,
they agreed to meet in front of Rattanakorn Village 3 for delivery.
Police said Prakon arrived with the rifle rolled up in a
mat. Two magazines containing 28 bullets were also inside.
Deputy Chonburi commander Col. Theerapol Jandaluang said
the woman claimed the gun belonged to her imprisoned son and she was only
selling it because she was broke. She said she needed cash to help her
former police officer son.
Police sent the weapon to the Forensics Institute to
determine if it had been used in any crimes. She was charged with illegal
weapons possession and carrying a loaded gun into a public place.
