South Korea’s ambassador to Thailand laid a wreath
for fallen Thai soldiers as the two countries marked Korean War
Veteran’s Day.
Chung Hae-Moon paid his respects at Cap Nawamin at
the 14th Military Circle headquarters June 24.
Thailand, under the direction of Prime Minister Field
Marshal Pibulsongkram, sent 1,294 men from the 21st Regiment to the
United Nations-mandated conflict from 1950-53. Four naval vessels and an
air transport left for the Korean Peninsula in October 1950.
A total of 136 Thais were killed in the Korean War:
130 from the Royal Thai Army, four from the Royal Thai Navy and two from
the Royal Thai Air Force.
