City workers, Royal Thai Navy personnel and Pattaya
residents took to the streets to spruce up the city as part of the
semi-annual “Big Cleanup Day.”
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome kicked off the Aug. 18
event, saying the city stages “big cleanups” each year for HM the
Queen’s Aug. 12 and HM the King’s Dec. 5 birthdays.
He said Big Cleanup Day raises the public’s awareness
of the need to keep Pattaya clean, which helps promote tourism, the
city’s leading industry.
