Leaders from four Pattaya communities learned about the effects
of diabetes and how to prevent the disease at a program organized by the
Pattaya Public Health Department.
Health-promotion director Kosama Bunyawanshana and nurse Phatcharin
Shinphast hosted the Oct. 6 seminar with 15 members each from the
Krathinglai, Soi 5 Thanwa, Arunothai, and Wat Chaimongkol communities.
The aim is to have the community members pass on what they learned at
the session to foster good health throughout the city.
Officials told them that more than 50 percent of diabetes victims are
ignorant that they have high blood pressure and diabetes, one of the top
killer disease combinations.
They advised people to get regular checkups, exercise, eat healthily and
abstain from alcohol.
