An elderly Dutchman died after apparently drowning off
Pattaya Beach.
Arnoldus Wilhelmus Gerardus, 78, was pulled from the
water near Soi 12 June 30. Rescuers found indications he had suffered a head
injury.
Beach masseuse Kritsana Chumpathong said she saw Gerardus
swimming and later heard his wife shouting that he was drowning. Beachgoers
jumped into to save him and administered CPR, but it was too late.
The victim’s body was sent to the Forensics Institute for
final determination.
