Pattaya-area youngsters will sing and dance for a shot at professional music lessons at the third Yamaha Pattaya Young Talent competition March 16-18 at the Tiffany Theater.

The contest, sponsored by the Yamaha Music Institute and the Tiffany Show, will see children and teens compete in five categories in hopes of winning the HRH Princess Soamsawalee trophy, cash, discounts and singing lessons from Siam Kolkarn Music.

Registration for children and teenagers was held Jan. 31 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Siam Kolakarn, with the first 20 in each of five categories to be selected Feb. 6. The second-round semi-finals will take place Feb. 19 at Central Festival Pattaya Beach.

The five categories will have kids and teens in two age groups sing Thai country songs or modern Thai and international songs. There will also be a category for bands and dance squads. Last year’s winners sang for the media as organizers and sponsors held a press conference Jan. 27.

Singing winners will receive professional training from qualified instructors at Siam Kolkarn Music School while all teams will win a trophy, 2,000-5,000 baht each and honors from Siam Kolkarn. Band winners will receive 10,000 baht cash and 10,000 baht in discounts from Siam Kolkarn while runners up will receive 5,000-7,000 baht and discounts from the school.
