Central Festival runs quarterly fire drill

Employees learn how to extinguish fires during training at Central Festival Pattaya Beach.

Warunya Thongrod
Central Festival Pattaya Beach employees practiced how to fight small fires and escape bigger ones during an emergency-preparedness drill at the beachfront mall.
Pattaya City Councilmen Rattanachai Sutidechanai and Ithiwat Wattanasartsathorn joined mall manager Mongkol Sirilak and local fire police for the Sept. 13 drill. Safety Department officer Anan Rathana quizzed the 300 participants orally on procedures and led practical demonstrations and tests.
Attendees were educated on the common sources of fires and how to use fire extinguishers. Preventative measures, such as how to use cooking gas safely, and first aid were also covered. Practical exercises covered extinguishing gas, cooking oil and electrical fires with extinguishers.
The group also spent time covering evacuation procedures and routes, and practicing getting crowds out of the busy mall.
Central Festival organizes four training sessions a year due to its belief in the importance of safety. The training and practice session has been organized for the benefit of employees who would be faced with protecting shoppers.
