The Amari Orchid Resort Pattaya is currently holding an ‘Arts for the Planet’ exhibition at G floor, Central Festival Pattaya Beach and at the ICE Bar, Amari Orchid Pattaya from 20-30 September. More than 80 paintings will be on display for viewing pleasure and for sale. All proceeds raised will be donated to ‘A Baht for A Better Life Project’ which provides educational opportunities for underprivileged children in Thailand. For more information, call 038 418 418.

The Pattaya Hilton will celebrate Oktoberfest on Sept. 27-28 for two nights of authentic beer, sausages and music. The Hilton ballroom will be transformed into a replica of Munich’s “Wiesn” Oktoberfest hall with long wooden tables and benches and booths offering Bavarian food while an Austrian band performs music, along with games and jokes. A charity motorcycle ride will take place on Sunday, September 29 starting at 2 p.m. from Ducati Pattaya on Pattaya Third Road and ending at the Camillian Social Center in Rayong. The purpose of the ride is to raise awareness amongst the motorcycling community of HIV/AIDS and most importantly to bring smiles to the faces of children who have been battling this disease all their lives. Once at the Center, volunteers will be asked to provide a short ride on their motorcycle for a few children, up the side soi at the Center (Soi Kiri) no more than a few hundred meters each way. Also a chocolate bar or ice-cream (ice-cream available on site) raises a smile as well. Naturally as this Center runs entirely on donations from benevolent supporters anything else you can contribute will be very welcome. The 3rd Perfume Shop Football Tournament will take place at Planet Football on Sunday 29th September. Three age groups, nine and under, 10-11 and 12-13 are invited to register and compete for the prestigious winner’s trophy. Registration is 2,500 baht for a team of 10 and all players will receive a free soccer shirt. Proceeds will go to the Father Ray Foundation.

The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) will be holding its annual fundraising Quiz Night on Saturday, October 12 at the Mercure Hotel in Central Pattaya. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with a full buffet dinner of European and Thai food being served from 7:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., and then the quiz will start at 8:00 p.m. and finish at 10:00 p.m. The cost is 600 baht per person. The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, Sept. 29. Everyone is warmly welcome. The guest speaker will be Wayne Walton, Group Leader for the Foreign Tourist Police Assistants (FTPA) in Pattaya. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. Estes Post 9876 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America is a social group in Pattaya that helps American Veterans and their dependants with benefit assistance related to the Veterans Administration, Social Security and service related agencies.
