Baht buses continue to block Soi Buakaow traffic

Warunya Thongrod
As anyone who has ever driven down Soi Buakaow knows, there’s a reason the traffic moves so slowly: baht buses.
A perfect example of the backups these “songthaews” cause was on full display Sept. 17 as a number of the pickup truck taxis sat double- and triple-parked, blocking the roadway at a critical intersection.
Of course, the taxi drivers hoping to grab an extra 10 baht from a passing pedestrian didn’t care and police were nowhere to be found. Both Pattaya police and the Pattaya Transport Cooperative have responsibilities to reign in negligent drivers. It’s about time they got started.
