Married gardener jealous of bargirl lover’s flings with foreigners hangs self

A married gardener apparently hung himself in jealously over his
extramarital girlfriend’s paid liaison with a foreigner.
The body of Nitithep Sawong, 30, was found hanging from a nylon rope in a
restroom behind a house on Sukhumvit Soi 43 Feb. 1. Police found no evidence
to counter their assumption he committed suicide.
Thongluan Yutthalay, 32, told police the dead man recently became her
boyfriend. However, the night before they had argued bitterly over her work
as a bargirl and the time she spent with a foreign customer.
She said her boyfriend wanted her to stop working and let him take care of
her. The argument continued for hours until he left to buy some food and did
not return. She later found him dead.
As the body was being taken out to Banglamung Hospital, however, a disabled
woman in a wheelchair arrived and told police she was Nitithep’s wife.
They’d been married about two years, she claimed, until he ran off to live
with his girlfriend.
