A Russian woman was injured after being hit on dry land by a jet ski driven
by an Indian tourist.
Varentina Puervova, 78, was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken leg in
the Feb. 1 accident on Pattaya Beach. She was treated at Pattaya Memorial
Hospital.
Keston Phasten, 28, hit the Russian after losing control of the jet ski and
driving up onto the beach. He was charged with reckless driving.
Thanyu Kaewsuk, 20, owner of the jet ski, said Keston had had been driving
the rented watercraft too close to the shore, splashing water at tourists.
Thanyu said he warned the Indian to drive only in the safety zone, but the
tourist did not listen. He then lost control, causing the accident.
