Three Thai tourists who wandered too far off shore during low tide had to be
rescued after the tide came back in, leaving them bobbing in the sea.
Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan and Pattaya marine rescuers hauled in Rayong
tourists Kritsada Khumkaew, 25; Suphachai Khapu, 23; and Thoarat Khapu, 22, from
Krathinglai Beach July 14. A fourth tourist managed to swim to shore himself.
Kritsada said the four friends had trekked about a kilometer off shore then
didn’t realize how fast the water would return. All but one were unable to swim
the distance to shore.
