Eight Lions Club District 310C chapters donated Thai
encyclopedias to students at 15 area schools.
Former district Gov. Kovit Tiantongnukul presented
Volume 36 of the Royal Version Thai Junior Encyclopedia July 9 at
Pattaya City Hall.
Lions clubs from Pattaya, Naklua, Banglamung and
Sriracha made the donation to schools including Banglamung, Nongprue,
Boh Win and Wat Nong Jabtao School in Chonburi.
Despite the boom in online encyclopedias, Thai books
continue to be helpful and popular, due in part to HM the King actively
encouraging their production and use. Subjects are grouped for three age
groups with each level being printed in different-sized characters.
Pattaya School No. 1 teacher Suphaporj Yowattasri
said she was happy to see the Lions Club sponsor the donation for area
children.
To encourage study and learning, the Lions Club will
host a quiz competition Aug. 18. The competition will be divided into
two divisions: Prathom 4-6 and Mattayom 1-3. Each team will consist of
three participants. Applications are open from until July 31. For more
information call 02-741-5364.
