Pattaya officials have begun preparations for this year’s
Buddhist Lent commemorations, planning for the latest editions of the
traditional candle contest and parade.
Permanent Secretary Pakorn Sukhonthachat chaired this
year’s meeting at city hall June 20. He said this year’s commemoration would
take place July 31 and will run the entirety of Beach Road.
Judges for the parade will be stationed in front of
Central Festival Pattaya Beach and Royal Garden Plaza. Traffic will be
restricted to one lane on the busy thoroughfare from 1-3 p.m.
Pakorn encouraged everyone to participate in the contest
and parade, even if just to come out and watch. Those interested in entering
the candle contest should contact the Religion, Art and Culture Promotion
