Hilton Pattaya donates 100,000 baht to Rotary flood-relief efforts

Hilton Pattaya General Manager Harald Feurstein (4th left), flanked by Robert Denzel, Assistant Governor of Rotary District 3340 and Past District Governor Pratheep S. Malhotra, with hotel management and the Blue Energy Committee members, donates 100,000 baht to the Rotary Club of Taksin Pattaya for their flood-relief efforts.

At a simple ceremony held at the Hilton Pattaya Hotel, General Manager Harald Feurstein and his management team presented the sum of 100,000 baht to the Rotary Club of Taksin Pattaya for use in relief and rehabilitation projects in aid of the victims of the massive flooding in Thailand. The hotel’s ‘Blue Energy Committees’ also gave generously to the fund in support of the humanitarian project.

Feurstein said, “We are saddened by the flood crisis in many provinces throughout Thailand. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Thai people who are seriously affected by the disastrous effects of the natural disaster. We hope and pray that the situation in Thailand will return to normal soon. We shall continue to support flood relief projects through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. We have faith in the good work of Rotarians and therefore entrust this donation to the Rotary Club of Taksin Pattaya to use in their disaster relief efforts.”

On hand to receive the cheque were Robert Denzel, Assistant Governor of Rotary District 3340 and members of the Rotary Club of Taksin Pattaya along with Past District Governor Pratheep S. Malhotra. PDG Pratheep thanked the Hilton Pattaya Hotel for their generosity and assured the benevolent hoteliers that Rotarians have a strict stewardship policy for donated funds and that aid will be brought directly to those in need.

He said, “After the floods subside, the full extent of the damage will become distinctly visible. We will do whatever we can to help those who have lost practically everything to get back on their feet again. Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their homes and businesses, not to mention their livelihoods. Rotary Clubs together with other organizations will try to help as many of the unfortunate people pick up the pieces of their shattered lives as possible. It will be a daunting task, but with the assistance of kind hearted people and organizations such as the Hilton Pattaya, we have a fighting chance.”
