The head of Thailand’s national Tourist Police warned
Pattaya business owners that law enforcement will be keeping them under
closer watch amid increasing reports of scams against tourists.
At a Sept. 20 meeting at the Camelot Hotel with
retailers, tour operators and other tourist-centric businesses, Maj.
Gen. Adis Ngamchitsuksri said the Pattaya Tourist police is working with
local businesses to remind them that cheating visitors harms the city’s
image and, in the end, their business.
Local Tourist Police officers will start handing out
pamphlets to tourists to warn them about scams and will step up
monitoring tourist-centric businesses.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome, also speaking at the
meeting, urged business owners to be honest.
