Lovelorn buffalo hit by truck

The mighty buffalo was
bruised and bloodied, but still standing.
Patcharapol Panrak
A buffalo chasing love was injured when it was struck
by a truck in Sattahip.
Police and animal-rescue officers were called to Sukhumvit Road near the
Bang Saray intersection where Petty Officer 1st Class Sursith Mothakul,
55, was waiting near his damaged Nissan pickup truck. An injured
5-year-old male buffalo and the female object of his desire stood
nearby.
Sursith said he was driving home from Pattaya when the two animals ran
in front of him. He swerved, but still clipped the male, who was hoofing
it after the female buffalo, who coyly was hiding in the bushes when
officers arrived.
The male sustained several wounds, was breathing weakly and was bleeding
from the nose and mouth, but was still standing. The animal was taken
for care by a veterinarian while the driver was invited back to police
headquarters to give a full statement. The buffalo’s handlers had fled
the scene before police arrived.

The same cannot be said
about the pickup truck that hit it.
