Events
A Remembrance Day Service - 70th Anniversary of Thai-Burma Railway - will be
held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, November 11 at the War Cemetery in Kanchanaburi.
Buses to the service will depart from the British Chamber of Commerce office
in Bangkok at 6 a.m. Cost is 600 baht per person and includes transport plus
snacks and beverages on the bus. There is no cost if you wish to make your
own way there but you still need to register online at

Thailand’s motorbike clubs and riders are invited to take part in the Kwai
Challenge 2012 on Sunday, November 11 in aid of the 2012 Poppy Appeal, the
Thai Burma Railway Centre, and the Thai Veterans Hospital in Bangkok. An
organised motorcycle ride will start from Three Pagodas Pass and end at the
bridge over the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi town (a shorter option will also
be available). The cost to take part is 1000 baht and includes a t-shirt and

A Joint BCCT/AustCham/AmCham Eastern Seaboard Networking Evening will be
held on Friday, November 16 at the Nova Platinum hotel in south Pattaya. The

The Queen’s Cup St. Regis ‘Pink Polo’ tournament will be held at the Thai
Polo and Equestrian Club in Pattaya on Saturday, November 17. Top female
players from around the country will compete on horseback for the 2012
Queen’s Cup whilst at the same time helping to raise funds for the fight
against breast cancer. There will be a variety of activities for the whole
family to enjoy including pony rides for kids, a horseback fashion show, and
shopping for polo lifestyle brands such as La Martina from Argentina and

Northern Soul Night’s first birthday party will be held on Saturday,
November 24 at the Boomerang Bar on Soi Arunothai in central Pattaya,

The 2012 Ploenchit Fair will be held at Bangkok International School on
Saturday, November 24 from 10.00am - 9.00pm. This charity fundraising event
is a family fun day, based on an English fairground, as well as offering all
day international food and beverage and stage entertainment. Donations are
currently being sought for goods or promotional materials to be used in the
central pool for the over 150+ stalls. All donations will be receipted and
all donors listed in our programme. This year will mark 55 years of
assistance given to Thai charities so if you have any items to donate,

Clubs and Associations
The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, Nov. 11.
Everyone is warmly welcome. Club members Pat Koester and Donna Westendorf
will talk about the trip they took to Bali during Songkran, including tips
for anyone who might be interested in visiting Bali next year. (They highly
recommend it!) The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea
restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid
Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast

The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) organizes regular lunches and
coffee mornings on the first and third Tuesday of every month. There is also
a newcomers coffee meeting at Casa Pascal on Second Road on the last Monday

For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing
confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The
English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day,
7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community.
English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active,
non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. All calls
