Central Center and the Banglamung Red Cross
organized a blood drive intended to aid children with blood
diseases.
Nearly 60 people rolled up their sleeves to
donate 22,250 cc of blood at the Sept. 19 Blood for the Young drive.
The project prepared the national blood bank for upcoming holidays,
which typically put a crunch on supplies. Officials said children
with anemia, thalassemia, and hemophilia require regular treatment
and transfusions.
The National Blood Center had collaborated with
regional units to campaign and organize donations to collect enough
blood for patients in various hospitals.
“Citizens are starting to understand blood
donation because blood donation, apart from making merit for the
mind, the donors’ health also reaps the benefits and the donors also
receive a souvenir brooch by Thai Red Cross,” said Watcharee Waenda,
senior committee member for the Banglamung Red Cross.
“Fifty-times donors will also receive a souvenir
brooch from HRH Princess Soamsawalee and 100-times donors from HRH
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.”
Resident Mattana Saksai said she always donates
blood because she believes in helping others and it is a
merit-making activity.
