The Melissa Cosgrove Children’s Foundation will be holding a charity bungy jumping event on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. at the Jungle Bungy on Sukhumvit Road Soi 87, Pattaya.  Everybody is welcome to this family fun day out which includes a BBQ, football, golf and of course the thrilling bungy jumping itself.  Scared of heights? The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) charity fundraising Christmas Bazaar will be held on 3 November at the Hilton Hotel on Pattaya Beach Road.  There will be a full program of events during the day for young and old alike, including a Santa’s Grotto, dancing demonstrations, a magician to entertain the children and of course many items on sale that are not available in the shops.  Vendors’ stalls are still available if you have something to sell.  For more information, visit: www.pilc-pattaya.com.

Thailand’s motorbike clubs and riders are invited to take part in the Kwai Challenge 2012 on Sunday, November 11 in aid of the 2012 Poppy Appeal, the Thai Burma Railway Centre, and the Thai Veterans Hospital in Bangkok.  An organised motorcycle ride will start from Three Pagodas Pass and end at the bridge over the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi town (a shorter option will also be available).  The cost to take part is 1000 baht and includes a t-shirt and poppy lapel badge plus refreshments and snacks on the day.  To register, call Lyndsey Rowe on 082 201 2314 or email: [email protected].

The 2012 Ploenchit Fair will be held at Bangkok International School on Saturday, 24th November, from 10.00am - 9.00pm.  This charity fundraising event is a family fun day, based on an English fairground, as well as offering all day international food and beverage and stage entertainment.  Donations are currently being sought for goods or promotional materials to be used in the central pool for the over 150+ stalls.  All donations will be receipted and all donors listed in our programme.  This year will mark 55 years of assistance given to Thai charities so if you have any items to donate, please email bctfn@ loxinfo.co.th or call 02 204 1587.


Clubs and Associations

The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, Oct. 7.  Everyone is warmly welcome.  The speaker will be Ann Winfield, President of the Pattaya International Ladies Club who will be highlighting their charitable work. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort).  The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9 to 11 a.m.

The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) organizes regular lunches and coffee mornings on the first and third Tuesday of every month.  The next Coffee Morning is being held on Tuesday, October 16, at the Tavern by the Sea on Beach Road in Pattaya. Registration starts at 10:30 am. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone.  The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community.  English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.  All calls will be handled on an anonymous basis and are free of charge.  Please call (02) 713-6791 (24hrs a day, 7 days a week).
