The 11th Chiang Mai Money Expo was held at Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport on November 18 – 20, 2016 and according to the Chairman of the event, Santi Wiriyarungsarit, more than 13 billion baht exchanged hands in various financial transactions including home loans, and other investment services.
Applications for home loans reached 8.8 billion baht in value this year while people also bought mutual funds, life insurance, and other investment and savings products. More than 70,000 people attended the event and attended booths from banks, insurance agencies, loan and investment firms. Lenders were offering great deals on home loans and refinancing as well as loans for SMEs which reached 2.3 billion baht.
Investment in savings products such as life insurance and bank insurance came in third with 740 million baht in investment, while mutual funds hit 460 million baht. Other financial services were offered such as credit card applications with 7,000 applications of 600 million baht credit approval.
This was one of the best performing Money Expos held according to the Chair who said the applications for home loans were at a record high.
