Two students from the local Garden International School (GIS) near Ban Chang are jetting off to the USA to represent Thailand in an international golf competition.

Poon (Year 10) and Queen (Year 5) both won first place in the recent qualifying round of the Junior Golf Tournament, organised by the Thailand Junior Golf Federation.  The event, which was co-sanctioned with True Visions, was held from May 2 to 4 at the Pine Golf & Lodge in Bangkok.

Poon and Queen played a total of 72 holes in 3 days (on day 2 they played back-to back rounds in the morning and the afternoon).  Poon shot a one under par total of 287 (73-71-70-73) and Queen shot an amazing 18-under par 270 (71-65-71-63), including a hole-in-one on the 114-yard Par 3 during the final round!

The results mean the pair have both claimed seats and travelling expenses for the World Stars of Junior Golf Tournament, together with 6 other junior golfers from different age divisions.

Poon will represent Thailand in the Boys 15-16 Division and Queen will represent the Girls 9-10 at the junior golf tournament (formerly the World Masters), which will be held from July 22-24, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We wish them both every success!

Year 5 student Queen struck a hole-in-one during the final qualifying round at the Pine Golf & Lodge resort in Bangkok.
