BANGKOK, 10 February 2012  - The prime minister has stepped out to deny rumors of a possible military coup.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, on Thursday, said that she has not been officially informed about reports suggesting that a military coup may soon take place to topple her government.

The Premier said that the Army has confirmed with her that there will never be another putsch ever again.

PM Yingluck's affirmation was made after Pheu Thai MP Jatuporn Prompan earlier cited a US intelligence report, saying that a coup will be staged against the current government in April.

The PM stated that while Mr. Jatuporn has the rights to say anything, he should be more careful with his comments.

Defense Minister Air Chief Marshal Sukumpol Suwanatat, meanwhile, said that Mr. Jatuporn's repeated talks about a possible coup is uncalled for.

He also plans to give a personal warning to Mr. Jatuporn to be more discrete in making any of such comments.
