Pickup becomes submarine in Sattahip

A pickup truck trying to launch a boat in Sattahip became a watercraft itself when strong waves washed it into the ocean.

Sawang Rojanathamsathan Foundation rescuers were called April 25 to Yuttkarn Pier where they found a submerged truck and its owner swimming around the waterlogged vehicle.

Rescuers used a six-wheeler to tow the pickup back to shore after the owner dove down to attach chains.

Thawatchai Wongchai, 37, said he was launching his fishing boat when large waves crashed into the vessel, swamping it and pulling his pickup into the sea. No one was injured.
