At city hall deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh recently chaired a meeting to discuss possibilities to set up new measures for Pattaya and Jomtien beach massage services after 70% of coastline business operators and tourists said it is time to come up with tighter controls on this service.

Ronakit said the number of masseuse had undesirably boomed within the past few years and most of them did not register their names with city hall.

He said some of them did not take a proper course from any Thai traditional massage school or occupational center and that the amateurish service did not help the body or physical health of the customers and that in some cases the so called masseuses were also involved in petty crime such as pick pocketing.

The Deputy Mayor said that a committee would be set up to focus on getting all the apparent masseuses registered with city hall. He said it was vital to impose better supervision to regain trust and safety to the beach businesses.
