Authorities set to begin removal of drainage, power obstacles to central Pattaya tunnel

The Department of Rural Roads is planning to start the removal of obstacles to construction of a traffic-bypass tunnel under Sukhumvit Road.

Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh presided over a Dec. 3 planning meeting with contractors and city workers to discuss the removal of high-mast electric poles, advertising boards, CCTV cameras, drainage systems, overheard crossing bridges and landscaping.

They also discussed the relocation of telephone, cable television and Internet cables from TOT, CAT Telecom, TT&T and others.

The removal of underground drainage and sewer pipes will be the most-pressing job, which is slated to begin Jan. 15 and last for 30 days.

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden was charged with the removal and preservation of landscaped trees and flowers.

Napha Kosaang is the lead contractor on the 837.4 billion baht project which is expected to last three years. Epsilon and Bun Punya Technology Co. has been hired as consultants.
