A police sweep of North Pattaya entertainment areas netted 24 arrests for illegal drug use.

The Jan. 5 raid by 100 Pattaya and Chonburi police officers and officials from the National Counter Corruption Commission came after a surge in drug offenses during the New Year’s holiday. Indoor bars on Soi 6 and beer bars along Second Road were targeted.

Pattaya Police Superintendent Col. Nantawut Suwanla-Ong said after drug tests, 24 users of methamphetamines were arrested and taken to Pattaya Police Station for processing.
