As Thailand’s hand, foot and mouth epidemic showing signs
of easing, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya organized a seminar to prevent further
spread of the virus.

Janthasun introduces preventive methods including proper hand-washing
techniques and school hygiene.
Neera Sirisamphan, director of Business and Foreign
Development, led the July 31 seminar at the hospital for teachers from the
city’s public schools, volunteers and orphanage workers. The disease spreads
principally among children.
Pediatrician Dr. Pasinee Janthasun introduced preventive
methods including proper hand-washing techniques and school hygiene.
The same day, Permanent Secretary for Public Health Dr.
Paijit Warachit said the breakout in the country will end in early September
and that the epidemic has almost ended in the north, although it remains in
the northeast, the central plains and east.
A total 829 HFMD cases were reported in the last week of
July with 17,656 patients diagnosed with the virus this year, including two
fatalities.
