A 12-year-old boy tragically drowned after taking off
his life-jacket on Dongtan Beach.
Keeranan Songkhram, 12, perished July 16 while
playing in the waves with a Chinese tour group. His father Meenainakhorn
Songkhram, 31, met rescuers at the scene.
Witnesses said beach chair vendors had told the
youngster to wear a life jacket while in the water, which he did. But
the boy inexplicably took off the jacket at some point and drowned.
