Re: Helping Sarocha
Editor;
Re: Helping Sarocha (PM Friday, 13 July 2012). This is a
great outcome for this young woman and I sincerely hope things get even
better for her.
Nothing is ever mentioned of the silent majority of
people who take the rearing and education of children sired by falangs and
deserted. You may say the mother was (bad), but you can’t cast the sins of
the mother onto the child.
Over 20 years I have assisted many of these children and
at present I have reared a young person for the last 8 years. I only pray
that I live long enough to see him reach manhood and reach his full
potential. His birth certificate gives his fathers surname as German. If
this man had done the moral thing this child could have had a chance.
I am happy for the girl in your story and am not looking
for a pat on the back for my actions, so I will not use my own email address
or name.

Jet ski problem continues
Editor;
I just witnessed 2 groups of tourists, 1st group from
India and 2nd group from China, got surrounded in Ho Lan island, near
Pattaya on July 16th 2012. There were at least 20 thugs surrounding them.
These tourists come with their family and children. This is very bad for
tourism for Pattaya and Ho Lan. It is even worst in Ho Lan as they are in an
island by itself. A police station such as tourist police should be set up
in that area. I will go back and spread the news and ask people not to come
to these tourist locations again. (I) feel bad for the 2 tourist groups.
This is not acceptable to allow criminals to operate in these tourist sites.
It is only going to hurt other legit businesses. It brings a bad name to
Thailand. The mayor must do something about it such as completely shut down
jet ski rental.

Man, not nature, is main
driver of coastal erosion
Editor;
Re: Dented Rayong coast highlights Thailand’s coastal
erosion (PM July 10). Decha Maneemai obviously is not aware that man, not
nature, is the main driver of coastal erosion now. Most of this is related
to navigational dredging, related structures and offshore sand mining. The
irrational statement of letting nature take it course in face of such
manmade alterations to natural systems is a serious error. Even the
traditionally-designed coastal protection structures shown, offshore
breakwaters, will cause major erosion down current. Yet, there is one proven
method which both protects and restores the natural in this case, straight -
beach by working with natural forces and materials: Holmberg Technologies
(www.erosion.com). Until we adopt such successful strategies, our coastlines
and the resources these sustain are going to continue to be lost.

Eagerly awaited work
Dear Editor,
I am pleased reading that a cleaning of pipes has been
carried out in Pattaya. Undoubtedly necessary.
I’d like to suggest the Sanitation Engineers Dept. also
clean the long drainage grating channel at the side of Dongtan Beach road
ending at the water park.
By my knowledge it has never been cleaned in many years.
Debris, sand and all kinds of litter are filling up the channel from the
start to the end.
Someone from City Hall should read this letter and take
action.
Cordially,
Concerned Farang
Image?
Editor;
(Re: Driven to begging - Friday, 20 July 2012) (This
beggar bothering cars on the streets of Pattaya will) Damage the image of
Pattaya? Walk a mile in this bloke’s shoes. Would you rather see him going
through the garbage tins behind the Captains Corner, etc? When you haven’t
eaten for a day or two, do you expect him to care about “image”?

Trimming prostitution
Editor;
(Re: City trims Pattaya Beach trees to improve safety,
Friday, 20 July 2012) To decrease prostitution you have to review the Thai
social systems and increase benefits for those in need. Just chopping some
trees won’t solve that problem. If he was working for me I would sack him
right away when making such a public remark.

Pattaya needs the
greenery and shade
Editor:
(Re: City trims Pattaya Beach trees to improve safety,
Friday, 20 July 2012) Oh, BS. Pattaya needs the greenery and shade. Horrible
decision. That beach walk used to be so nice. Even back in 2005, 2006 the
flower beds were kept up nicely towards the North end.

Some has to pay for free treatment
Editor;
(Re: Thoughts on returning to Thailand, Friday, 20 July
2012) 20 July, JCB commented on receiving free medical treatment. In the
western countries, they call it ‘’welfare’’. In Italy, my country, we know
about it very well, in fact we give it free to everybody together with their
family who comes to visit us from everywhere. Of course somebody has to pay:
we do. One of the reasons why we are near bankruptcy.

Trimming the trees

(Re: City trims Pattaya Beach trees to improve safety,

and well trimmed…

Double pricing
Editor;
(Re: Double pricing is bad news, Mailbag Friday, 15 June
2012) Chow cham, yen cham as the Thais would say. That’s the way it is in
South East Asia. When I take my wife, 2 girls and grandma to an attraction
in Thailand I always pay the Thai price. I argue my point, politely, in
Thai. It works for me, no problem. Learn to speak the lingo people!

Thanks
Editor;
(Re: Making Dreams Real for Pattaya and the Eastern
Seaboard, Friday, 20 July 2012) A million thanks, dear Peter, for your
vision and insight. We are truly grateful for Pattaya Mail and the services
it provides to all. Blessings,
Larry Roger Braden
Where have all the flower beds gone?
Dear Editor,
I was disappointed 2 weeks ago on a visit from down at
Jomtien to Pattaya to notice that all the flower beds had been removed: why?
It made a big negative difference to the beach front; this combined with
self centred, stony-faced individuals riding motor bikes up and down the
promenade, making it unsafe for pedestrians, made me come away with a
downbeat feeling towards a town that I formerly liked. Why should tourists
come to a place that doesn’t care about their welfare?
