“We Care for Kids”

(L to R) Rienchai, Ae and Chaichana, are very inspiring and articulate as they address the press.

Lewis Underwood

Our latest university graduates shine at press conference

Prior to the Fair, each year the Diana Garden Resort hosts a press conference for the Thai press and City Hall, vis-เ-vis, the Pattaya mayor. This gives us the opportunity to convey our message that the Jesters Care for Kids Charity Drive is primarily concerned with helping children in our community to get access to educational opportunities.

Typically, we tell them about how we raise money, where it goes, when our annual events occur and who we are: a purely voluntary organizing committee. We usually wrap it up with a representative from our target charity, the Fountain of Life Center, who tells them about the scholarships we fund through our charity drive.

(L to R) Kru Wannee, Chaichana, Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome, Sopin “Noi” Thappajug, Woody, Rienchai, Ae and Tony proudly pose for a group photo shortly following the press conference.

However, this year was special. We also had in attendance 2 recent university graduates with BA degrees and another university student with two more years left to go. Each of these 3 young adults spoke in turn and they were so inspiring and articulate that we beamed like proud parents. In short, they were shining examples that perseverance can get one through hardship, and that the ultimate goal of finishing the education process is attainable.

If we ever sought reward for what we do, they certainly provided it that day.

Canadian Jackalope raises over 500,000 baht at Annual Event

The Canadian Jackalope Open has done it again! For the 4th consecutive year they have gone Diamond, which is a 400,000 baht sponsor for our charity drive. In fact, they exceeded that total by at least another 100,000 baht, which qualifies them as a Platinum Sponsor as well!

For the last 13 years, the organizers of Canadian Jackalope Open have collected sponsorship on an annual basis culminating their efforts with a charity golf tournament held in early August.

We joined forces in 2008 with the stipulation that all funds raised by them would go to us as long as it ultimately went to the Camillian Center in Rayong for kids living with HIV/AIDS and the Camillian Home in Lat Krabang that assists kids living with HIV and disabilities.

In order to make this relationship a symbiotic one; we add funds that we raise from other sources, so that our combined donation has a bigger impact on the Camillian kids.

The main events for the Jesters Care for Kids are nearly upon us!

Sunday, September 11th, the date for our Jesters Fair, is only 16 days away! And once again the Diana Garden Resort and Driving Range in north Pattaya will be hosting our event, where it has been for the last 9 years.

So tell your families and friends that our annual community event for the benefit of disadvantaged kids in our neighborhood is coming right up. In fact, these kids from our projects are coming along to join in the fun too.

Then 13 days after the Fair, on Saturday, September 24th, is the Jesters Gala Night at the Amari Orchid Pattaya. This new improved event will not only feature our usual auctions and grand raffle draws, but also a sit-down dinner with complimentary beverages throughout the evening and a variety of entertainment.

Consequently, please mark both of those dates on your social calendar.

How you can help us NOW

As the time is getting near, besides making donations, you can also help us by buying tickets for our Gala Party Night at the Amari, Grand Raffle tickets (top prize 80K baht motorcycle) and/or beer coupons that help us cover the entire set-up cost for the Fair.

Along with our event shirts, these tickets/coupons are available at Jameson’s, Fountain of Life Center, Viking Beachcomber and TQ.
