Hilton Hotels & Resorts expanded the reach of its global leisure portfolio with the opening of the Hilton Pattaya, a 302-room upscale hotel in a prime location on Pattaya’s beachfront.

The Nov. 28 opening celebration began with a “Blue Energy” Party for staff and a merit-making ceremony with nine Buddhist monks from Chaimongkol Temple blessing employees. Top executives then briefed workers to prepare for the opening of the Hilton’s doors the following day.

The release of 2010 Hilton blue-and-white balloons marked the official opening at 10:30 a.m. on Monday 29 and team members hit the beach in the afternoon, distributing brochures and “lucky vouchers” to passers-by, who could win prizes ranging from hot chocolates or cocktails at the Drift Lounge in the lobby to a bottle of champagne and dessert at hotel’s Flare restaurant to a complimentary second night stay once booked before February.

That night saw the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by General Manager Harald Feurstein. Joining in were a host of local officials and hotel executives, including Banglamung District Chief Mongkol Thamakittikhun, Chonburi Gov. Wichit Chatpaisit, Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and Suthichai and Sudhitham Chirathivat, the executive chairman and executive director, respectively, of the Central group of companies, which owns the hotel.

All the guests welcomed the Hilton’s first VIP guests and watched as they were checked into their rooms. Everyone then enjoyed champagne and cocktails at the Executive Lounge, taking in a breathtaking view of Pattaya Bay from the Hilton’s 16th story terrace. Completing their toasts, the guests settled into to enjoy the musical talents of well-known band Vietrio and a fashion show of Hilton uniforms.

Owned by CPN Pattaya Beach Hotel Co., Ltd. and managed by Hilton Worldwide, Hilton Pattaya sits atop of the Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall, earning it the key location in the heart of Pattaya.

With a dedicated ground floor entrance, the main lobby of Hilton Pattaya is located above the mall’s sixth floor, which the Hilton denotes as the 16th floor, after taking into consideration the galleria’s basement and lower-level parking. Guest rooms are located on floors 19-33.

Maj. Arun Promphan, superintendent of the Pattaya Tourist Police, congratulates General Manager Harald Feurstein and Thomas Hoeborn, regional general manager.

“With much to offer through its rich history and attractions, Pattaya is becoming increasingly popular among domestic and international holiday makers. Hilton Pattaya is well positioned to meet the growing demand for upscale accommodation, offering the finest in accommodation, services and dining while being ecologically responsible,” Feurstein said.

All rooms have been designed with the property’s beachfront location in mind, offering stunning 180-degree views of Pattaya Bay from individual private balconies. Selected rooms and suites have been fitted with panoramic outdoor bathtubs, where guests can kick back and relax in the sunset without compromising their privacy.

Sue Kukarja, director of Pattaya Mail Television, and Tony Malhotra, director of Pattaya Mail Media Group, congratulate Peta Ruiter, director of business development, and Michel Sheffers, director of operations.

Hilton Pattaya houses five restaurants and bars offering spectacular views of Pattaya Bay and the city, including the only rooftop sky venue in the resort town, which will be ready in early 2011. There’s also a lobby lounge and poolside restaurant, plus 24-hour room service. There are also wellness facilities such as a spa, outdoor “infinity edge” swimming pool and a health club, set among a landscaped garden.

In line with the company’s global sustainability efforts, Hilton Pattaya incorporated unique, environmentally friendly features within its operations and guests services. These include the use of energy-efficient light bulbs throughout the property as well as recycling of waste water and materials.
