Ebay buys Thai government’s economy sufficiency policy

Ebay, the world’s largest online marketing website, has expressed strong support for the Thai government’s application of His Majesty the King’s sufficiency economy concept and wants to talk with appropriate government officials about promoting Thai local products more widely on the world market.
Mr. Sam McDonagh, South East Asia Director of Ebay, said last week that Thai products such as gemstones, apparel and sports equipment are very popular items among online shoppers. Thai jewellery is currently selling at the rate of one item every 27 seconds whilst items of Thai clothing or fashion accessories are sold online every 56 seconds.
Mr. McDonagh reiterated that despite substantial market penetration already, Thai products still possess ample potential to reach and compete in even wider world markets.
The e-marketing chief says Thailand should encourage its entrepreneurs to seek more opportunities to display their goods online and as a result both enhance the domestic job market and increase national income.
He added that there is still plenty more room for Thailand’s online market to grow, as the number of Thais with internet access continues to grow. (TNA)
