Sattahip woman
survives suicide attempt
Patcharapol Panrak
A Cambodian woman survived an apparent suicide attempt after
swallowing 20 paracetamol tablets in her rented room in Sattahip.
Identified only as “Tai,” the 23-year-old was found with stomach pains and
shallow breathing, but refused to go to the hospital. She said she wanted to
wait for her husband to return and see her in this condition.
After pleading with the victim for 30 minutes to see a doctor, Sawang
Rojthummasathan Foundation gave up their efforts, feeding her sweet drinks
to dilute the pain reliever.
The woman’s sister said the victim had been sad for some time because her
husband had become distant, refusing to return home for long periods while
claiming to be working as a fisherman offshore.
