Area highway police launched random checkpoints near the Pattaya
Highway Police Station on Sukhumvit to catch drivers violating traffic
rules.
Lt. Sirot Reunrerng headed the detail manning the post April 24 to enforce
laws and make drivers aware of the need to obey traffic laws.
The checkpoint is set up randomly twice a week. Siroj said 90 percent of
those ticketed are charged with driving without a license or without a
motorbike helmet.
Officers issue both warnings and tickets and also check motorcycle-taxi
drivers to ensure they are licensed for business.
