Government Housing Bank marked its 60th anniversary in Takientia by
bolstering education, aiding the elderly and rebuilding a house for a poor
woman.
Bank President Angkana Pilun-Owad Chaimanat explained what the bank had done to
make merit and thank customers during an Oct. 5 press conference at Weruvanaram
Temple.
The bank built a small library at Wat Weruvanaram School and filled it with
books, computers and English-language study materials. It also handed out 61
scholarships to poor students with good grades.
For the elderly, the bank handed out 61 bags of supplies to five villages in the
sub-district. And one lucky woman was given a new house.
As part of Government Housing Bank’s “Loving Home” project, the bank came to the
aid of Arnporn Nobnom, who is hobbled by back and hip problems. Workers fixed
the roof, installed room partitions, laid floor tiles, painted inside and
outside and paved a meter around the entire house.
Bank employees wrapped up the day by making merit at the temple.
