Drawing elephants lead run-up to Mother’s Day celebration at Nong Nooch

Pachyderms Yok and Baiyok celebrate Mother’s Day by drawing a heart and filling it with the Thai words “Love is Mother”.

Patcharapol Panrak
Nong Nooch Tropical Garden gave mothers and children free entrance to the Pattaya tourist attraction for Mother’s Day weekend where elephants put on a show honor HM the Queen for her 81st birthday.
Director Kampol Tansajja opened the elephant shows Aug. 9. Pachyderms Yok and Baiyok danced, did tricks and drew the words “Love is Mother” with their trunks.
Kampol said the weekend was only a precursor to a grand Aug. 12 celebration for HM the Queen’s birthday. To get ready for the show, the elephants practice drawing a heart and scribbling the words inside.
The free weekend for mothers also featured cultural shows, music and free gifts, as well as an exhibit of rare photos of royal missions conducted by HM Queen Sirikit.
