Lovelorn man needs rescue after
second thoughts about bridge jump

Police and Sawang
Boriboon rescuers use rope to pull Sirisak Chanduaykij to safety on the
decorative bridge near Pattaya School No. 7.

A distraught man who thought he wanted to commit suicide had to
be rescued after deciding he did want to jump from a Sukhumvit Road
pedestrian bridge after all.
Police and Sawang Boriboon rescuers tied a rope around Sirisak
Chanduaykij, 21, and pulled him to safety Aug. 5 on the decorative
bridge near Pattaya School No. 7. Threatening to jump, he’d dropped down
to a support rail then couldn’t return to the platform without help.
Sirisak was upset after a fight with his girlfriend, who didn’t come to
see his likely non-fatal plunge from the five-meter overpass. But the
excitement did a number on his mother, Nittaya Sriwamna, 40, who
required her own medical treatment after fainting.
Nittaya promised to pay closer attention to her lovelorn son from now
on.
