Planning begins for Jan. 27 International Bed Race

Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh presides over a city hall meeting to prepare for this year’s bed race.

Warunya Thongrod
Rotary Club of Pattaya members have begun planning the third Pattaya International Bed Race, which this year goes back to daytime hours.
After massive traffic snarls during rush hour last year, the fundraiser moves to a more-sensible 4 p.m. start at Central Festival Pattaya Beach.
Rotary leaders met with Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh Jan. 8 at city hall to begin organizing security, traffic management and other issues to ensure a smooth event.
The race route will begin from in front of the beachfront mall and travel down Beach Road to Walking Street. Thai and foreigners both compete with dozens of teams entering last year. Officials estimate thousands of people watched last year’s event.
Proceeds from the event will go toward various Rotary-sponsored charities.
