
BANGKOK, Thailand – The government is moving ahead with a policy to integrate esports into schools nationwide, placing gaming as a tool for skills development, income generation, and career pathways for students.
The Ministry of Education plans to introduce esports through TO BE NUMBER ONE clubs in schools across the country, providing a space for students to develop skills in technology, analytical thinking, teamwork, and self-management. Students will also have opportunities to compete at school, national, and international levels, with plans to expand the program into a structured academic framework.
Esports in Thailand are being viewed as a high-value creative industry with economic potential, capable of creating jobs and new career opportunities for young people. The approach links digital skills with the demands of the modern economy.
The policy, which is set to shift learning methods from memorization toward critical thinking, analysis, and effective use of technology, is expected to support student development and prepare Thai youth for global competition in the digital era. (NNT)
