CCTV footage is being reviewed by Suvarnabhumi Airport after a Thai Vietjet passenger reported a light-blue suitcase was damaged, with belongings worth around 600,000 baht missing following a flight from Bangkok to Krabi.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Suvarnabhumi Airport has released details from its baggage handling system after a Thai Vietjet passenger reported that a suitcase was damaged and belongings worth around 600,000 baht were missing following flight VZ342 from Bangkok to Krabi on August 21. The airport said checks of its baggage system records and CCTV footage found that the suitcase passed through the airport’s security screening process normally. Its Explosives Detection System (EDS) recorded a “CLEAR” status, meaning no dangerous objects or explosive substances were detected.

Because the bag did not trigger any security concerns, it was not removed for a physical inspection. Instead, it continued automatically through the baggage conveyor system to the Make-up Unit, where it was handed over to the airline’s ground handling operation for loading onto the aircraft.

Suvarnabhumi Airport said Thai Vietjet had hired Pattaya Aviation Co. Ltd. to handle and transport baggage for the flight.

The airline joined the airport in reviewing CCTV footage and related information on August 21 and confirmed that it had contacted the affected passenger. Thai Vietjet said it would continue handling the complaint and coordinate further checks through the relevant procedures. The airport said it is continuing to coordinate with the airline, ground handling company and other relevant agencies to establish the facts surrounding the passenger’s damaged baggage and reported missing belongings.
