Bang Rak police and Metropolitan Police Division 6 officers seized eight firearms, including a Colt 1911 and seven homemade guns, along with ammunition from a 46-year-old man’s home in Bangkok after reports of a loud noise resembling gunfire.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Bang Rak police and Metropolitan Police Division 6 officers arrested a 46-year-old man at his home in Bangkok’s Bang Rak district after receiving a report of a loud noise resembling gunfire. Officers found eight firearms, including a Colt 1911 and seven homemade guns, along with ammunition hidden throughout his bedroom. The arrest was made on the evening of August 20 at a house on Soi Phraya Damrong in Maha Phruettharam, Bang Rak. Police said the suspect and his brother were at the property when officers arrived and both acknowledged that the house belonged to them before allowing officers to conduct a search.


During the search, officers found a 12-gauge shotgun cartridge on the suspect’s bed and eight firearms hidden in different areas of his room. The seized weapons included one Colt 1911 and seven homemade firearms, with ammunition bringing the total number of items seized to 13.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly told police that he had made some of the homemade firearms himself as part of a personal collection. He also claimed that some of the guns and ammunition had been given to him by friends. Police charged the man with possessing firearms without authorization from the registrar and possessing ammunition without authorization. He was handed over to Bang Rak police investigators for further legal proceedings.
