SHENZHEN, China – Thailand is stepping up efforts to deepen trade, investment and business cooperation with China through the launch of “MEET Thai Plus 2026 Shenzhen,” the largest overseas economic promotion mission organized by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
Held on September 9–10 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, the initiative brings together 135 Thai organizations from government, the private sector and academia, alongside Chinese businesses and business associations.
China remains Thailand’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade exceeding one trillion yuan in 2025, up 28 percent from the previous year. China is also Thailand’s largest source market for international MICE visitors, accounting for around 30 percent of overseas MICE travelers to Thailand in 2025. Held under the theme “Thailand: MEET for MORE,” the event expands beyond the MICE sector to showcase opportunities in tourism, digital technology, innovation, healthcare, food, education, the creative economy and future industries.
The initiative is particularly focused on strengthening connections with Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), a major economic, technology and innovation hub in China. MEET Thai Plus 2026 Shenzhen also builds on the momentum from 15 cooperation agreements signed during Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s official visit to China in July 2026. The agreements cover strategic areas including trade, science and technology, space, education, water management, intellectual property and artificial intelligence.
The two-day event features business matching and more than 10 discussion sessions involving experts from Thailand and China. TCEB expects more than 800 business-matching appointments, over 2,000 participants, and economic opportunities worth more than one billion baht. TCEB said the initiative will help transform growing Thailand–China connectivity into tangible opportunities in trade, investment and long-term economic cooperation, while reinforcing Thailand’s position as an ASEAN Gateway.
