Thai government and retailers team up to slash prices on daily necessities

Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Persvivatana announces nationwide discounts on essential goods to help ease household expenses from August 1–15.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The government, together with the Ministry of Commerce and major manufacturers, will launch the “Thais Help Thais x Local Low Cost” campaign to offer significant discounts on 17 categories of essential consumer goods and help lower living costs.

​Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Persvivatana announced that the campaign will run from August 1 to 15, 2026. Discounts will apply to daily necessities in eight food and beverage categories, such as rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, sugar, and canned food, as well as nine household and personal care categories, including shampoo, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, toilet paper, and adult diapers. Leading brands have partnered with the government to offer these items at reduced prices.



​Shoppers can access these discounts at participating local wholesale and retail stores nationwide. More than 135 local businesses with over 800 branches have joined the initiative. Regional chains include Jampha Savemart in Lamphun, Thanapiriya in Chiang Rai, Tung Ngee Soon Superstore in Udon Thani, Kiatsin Wholesale in Khon Kaen, Chaisaeng Department Store in Sing Buri, Big Te in Pathum Thani, Supercheap in Phuket, and K&K Superstore in Songkhla. ​

The Deputy Spokesperson stated that the campaign aims to ease household financial burdens, stimulate grassroots economies, and support local Thai businesses. The public is encouraged to look for the “Thais Help Thais x Local Low Cost” signage at participating stores. Shoppers can also consult the Department of Business Development’s announcements for a list of participating retailers. Product availability and discounts may vary by store. (NNT)
