PATTAYA, Thailand – A worker was seriously injured when a power pole fell on him after a crane cable snapped during a loading operation in Huai Yai, Banglamung, on Wednesday afternoon, October 28. Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon were called to Soi Hua Nong Bon 19 in Huai Yai at around 4.30 p.m. They arrived with an ambulance and rescue equipment to assist the injured man.

At the scene, officers found an orange six-wheel truck bearing Bangkok registration 84-2743. A sign on the windscreen identified it as a vehicle working in cooperation with the Provincial Electricity Authority. A man believed to be between 25 and 30 years old was found with serious injuries to his waist and was unable to move. A power pole lay partly across the truck, with its other end resting on the ground.

Rescuers provided first aid before rushing the injured worker to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya Jomtien for urgent medical treatment. According to colleagues, workers had been using a crane mounted on the truck to lift a power pole from the ground onto the vehicle. While the pole was suspended in the air, the crane cable suddenly snapped, sending it crashing down.

A worker standing nearby tried to jump clear but could not escape in time and was struck around the waist by the falling pole. As of Wednesday evening, no further information had been released about the man’s condition. The cause of the cable failure remains under investigation by the relevant authorities.
