The coronavirus is the latest challenge facing the media today.
Reporters, photographers, editors, sales representatives and production specialists at newspapers and websites all over the world risk losing our jobs.
Our newsroom may not be as packed with dozens of reporters as before, but our hard-working journalists continue to write some of the best work we’ve ever done. We are constantly adapting our news coverage to serve our communities better.
Just like many local businesses, media publishers and workers struggle in a very competitive marketplace where many consumers take us for granted. Some may assume that the local news coverage is a kind of public service…which we are.
Our strongest selling point is that we give news and information to the masses for free. But of course as we all are aware, it’s not free to produce.
Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can.
We ask you, dear readers of the Pattaya Mail, please support reliable local journalism. Our industry is hurting, and we need you more than ever.
