The entrance to Soi Pornprapanimit 26 on Siam Country Club Road which leads to five housing estates, hundreds of homes, including the Nongprue Police Station has been closed to traffic since April.

Two months after contractors started work on an East Pattaya roadwork project, more than 500 households remain stuck with a one-lane detour and no answers from Nongprue Subdistrict.

Community spokeswoman Kwanjai Kiewrodpai and other residents of Soi Pornprapanimit 26 on Siam Country Club Road met with the media Oct. 14, describing how the main road to access five housing estates, hundreds of homes, including the Nongprue Police Station has been closed to traffic since April.

Nongprue hired Pasitsupachote Co. to rebuild the drainage system and resurface the road for 162,000 baht, a job that began on April 13 and should have been finished by July 11.

Instead, the contractor got 90% of the work done, and still no signs of them finishing the job anytime soon, leaving the road closed and unfinished, causing it to flood repeatedly and immeasurable inconvenience and disruption to people living in the area.

Kwanjai said residents contacted Nongprue Subdistrict numerous times and got no response. They demanded to know what is happening with the project and when the road will be finished and reopened.
