PATTAYA, Thailand – A 20-year-old motorcyclist was injured after striking a truck wheel chock left on the road in Banglamung, prompting police to search for the owner of the equipment. The accident occurred at around 8 p.m. on July 22 near the U-turn in front of the Ban Banglamung Boys’ Home, north of Pattaya. The injured rider, Jirapong Charoenchao, was travelling on a white-and-red Honda Wave 125i when his motorcycle hit the wooden wheel chock, causing him to lose control and crash. He suffered injuries, while his motorcycle was also damaged.
Police said the wheel chock, commonly used to secure parked trucks and other large vehicles, had apparently fallen onto the roadway. The yellow-painted wooden block featured a red carrying strap and clearly marked identification numbers, which investigators believe could help identify the truck or owner responsible. The victim has filed a police report to support his medical treatment and insurance claim under Thailand’s Road Accident Victims Protection Act. Authorities are also attempting to trace the owner of the wheel chock and determine responsibility for the incident. Police urged truck operators and drivers of heavy vehicles to check that all equipment is properly secured before setting out, warning that objects falling onto the roadway can create serious hazards for other road users.
