BANGKOK, 21 April 2012 – In a latest bid to speed up the elimination of drug trade, Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubumrung has pledged THB 12 million cash rewards to anyone giving a tip-off leading to the capture of the 25 most high-profile drug kingpins.

The cash rewards range from THB100,000 to THB 2 million, depending on the severity of crime the traffickers have committed. The two most wanted drug lords are Mr. Usman Salaemaeng and Mr. Norkam whose last name is unknown. A bounty of THB 2 million has been put on their heads.

Posters containing the pictures of all the 25 drug kingpins have been sent out to state offices and landmarks, such as police stations, city halls, immigration checkpoints, bus terminals, and community medical centers. Their descriptions have also been published in five languages, namely Thai, English, Laotian, Burmese and Yawi which is a Malay dialect. Their details can also be found on the website of the Narcotics Control Board. People wanting to give tip-offs are welcome to call the 1386 hotline round the clock.

The Office of the Narcotics Control Board and the Police’s Narcotics Suppression Bureau have jointly appointed 36 anti-drug operation teams to carry out this mission.
